Time in London?
We are traveling to Africa via London in late August to early September 2015. We would like to layover in London for a few days on our way back to California. Please advise number of days for our stay in London. We will want to visit a couple of the major museums as well as typical sights. We will likely do a vacation rental to save on costs. Could you please recommend a good neighborhood for accessing the major areas of the city?

You need a LOT of days to see the 'typical' sites. But just for a layover on a larger trip, and for a first visit you'd want at least 3 or 4 nights. If you can swing a full week that would be better. Even w/ a week you really have to limit the number of major sites you squeeze in. London id massive. >>We will likely do a vacation rental to save on costs. Could you please recommend a good neighborhood for accessing the major areas of the city?<< There are MANY good neighborhoods and the public transport is easy. But that this late date you may have a hard time finding a rental in any specific location. I just checked my two favorite rental sites and neither has much availability in September, and there is next to none in August. What is your budget? |
This is a "How long is a piece of string?" question. All of my stays in London have been a week or a bit more, and I've never finished all the places on my must-see list.

Thanks bilboburgler . But yes, before anyone can make useful suggestions - we do need to know your budget, even w/ the trip a year away ;) . |
Let's congratulate Wm on getting started early with the questions!
