Time from Rome to CT

Does anyone know how long it takes by train from Rome to Cinque Terre?

Or Venice to CT?

Roma to Monterosso (the northernmost of the 5 Cnque Terre towns) is 4 hours, 24 minutes. The trains leave nearly every hour from the Roma Termini train station, with stops in both Florence and Pisa. For instance, an 8:30 am train will have you in Monterosso by 12:54 pm.

Venezia to Monterosso is longer, averaging 6 hours, 40 minutes (+/-). The main train station in Venezia is the Santa Lucia station, with stops at Venezia's other (Mestre) station along the way. For example, a 10:52 am train leaving Venezia will get into Monterosso at 5:02 pm, with a stop in Milano.

Thanks Hiutres for the info, that was probably the most helpful thing anyone has ever writen to me on this forum. I tried looking at trenitalia and it is very confusing I just have to get used to it.

Hi trpchick26-no problem at all! If it is easier for you, switch to the English screen, then type in the 2 city pairs you want in the boxes at the far L of the screen, along with the day/month and time. (If you put it for 8:00 am, it will give you train times from 8 am throughout the morning so you can pick the best time for you). Press enter and it will give you a page of schedules. Then just click on the train/time you want and I would print out that specific page and take it with you on your trip. It is helpful to have when traveling, that way you can walk right up to the Departures ("Partenze" in Italian) board at the train stations and look for the time and you will find the train and binario (track) number to go to.

I have traveled this Rome-CT route very frequently, it is quite easy. You might want to bring a sack lunch with you to eat along the way as you watch the scenery speed by. Otherwise, they have the food cars on the train for some over-priced and not so good food. Buon viaggio!
