time difference
can anyone tell me the time difference between Texas and Italy? Is it 8 Hours? I just am covering my bases for frequent phone calls home to check on my two kids while we are in Italy.
can you explain it in terms that i can understand, like , "if it's 8pm on Thursday night in Rome, it'll be __________ in Texas" |
Go to www.timeanddate.com. I find the Meeting Planner to be particularly helpful because you can plug in the names of two or more cities and it will give you a chart with time slots marked in red (middle of the night), yellow (outside working hours) and green (working hours) to show you when the best times to call are.
Usually, it's a 7 hour difference (8 pm in Rome means 1 pm in Texas), except for a few weeks in the year when one jurisdiction has moved to or from daylight savings before the other. |
Isn't Texas in the central time zone? In which case it is 8 hours behind Italy???
|
NOW it's 11:46am Central US Time, 6:46pm in Italy
That's 7 hours in my book |
HI S,
Italy is 6 hrs ahead of Eastern Std Time. at noon in NYC, it is 6:00 PM in Italy. What time zone are you in? ((I)) |
Oops...in case you can't tell, I'm in la-la time zone. Sorry to contribute confusion...
|
You may find it convenient to reference everything to GMT. Texas (CST) is GMT-6, and Italy (CET) is GMT+1. So the net is that it is 7 hours later in Rome than Dallas.
It gets a little more complicated during the couple of weeks in the spring and fall when Daylight time pertains in one place and Summer time in the other. |
If you want to know the time difference in another part of the world, double click on your computer clock, then when the window opens, click on time zone, then the line above the world map and run up or down the list to find out.
