The flower market we went to was not at the Covent Gardens, I thought it had the same name but obviously not. It was this large area of a number of streets with all the flower vendors. I know there is still something like this as a friend goes there always to buy flowers when she decorates for a function.

One of my favorite spots is Leighton House in Holland Park. It was the home of 19th century painter Lord Leighton and the house reflects his eccentric style.

I've also heard good things about Sir John Sloane's house which has been turned into a museum. What about a day trip...it's easy to take a train trip out to Bath or Bristol.

Sue - you might be thinking of the new wholesale market in Vauxhall south of the river to which Covent Garden market moved when Covent Garden itself was done up - I'm not sure I'd call it streets, it's just a modern collection of lock-up areas for shifting large quantities quickly. The other possibility is Columbia Road in Hackney, but that's only on Sunday mornings and in and around one very narrow street and a few side-turnings. Fun but a bit claustrophobic if you don't like crowds.

Hi Kimberly,

I am a London addict having been there somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 times. I highly recommend the Wallace Collection (go in the morning, then stay for lunch in the restaurant) and Sir John Soane's Museum. And I finally went on the Globe Theatre tour combined with wandering through the Tate Modern - more interesting for the building than the art in my humble opinion (for touristy items they were a lot of fun).
Have a great time!

Does anyone go to the Tate Gallery (now Tate Britain) in Pimlico? Worth it if only for Sargent's "Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose" and Whistler. And attached you have the Clore Gallery for J M W Turner.

I think any of the London Walks tours would be a great idea.I've done 5 or 6 of them over the previous years and have never been disappointed in any of them.Just look at their guide and pick the walks that interest you.I also highly reccommend Sir John Soane's House. Its brilliant architecturally, and is full of interesting items.Having also visited both the Dulwitch Picture Gallery, and the Wallace Collection recently the later is the more engrossing of the two.For something really different try the Dennis Severs House on a monday evening when its candlelit only.Dont ask me to explain it because you can't.Just check the web site at http://www.dennissevershouse.co.uk/#
