I have 2 TIM sims, one for iPhone and 1
For iPad that I bought in rome last May and used for 1 month. As I am going to italy again in May this year does anyone know if I can reactivate them and how to go about this.

They'll likely be dead after 6 months.Get another SIM card and start over.

If you are close to the year ending, I'd try to top-off your SIMs now so they are still good when you get back. I assume if you are able to login/top-off with your existing phone numbers now they'll continue to work after you top off.

For prepaid voice SIM, TIM lets you keep your number active for 13 months since the last recharge.

If within the active time period, I have just went to a TIM store and gave the telephone number to add fund. I presume there are other places you can add fund to your number.
For a prepaid SIM with data, the TIM guy did considerably more typing to get it reactivated, but I reused the same SIM.

Any plans you had activated on the SIM cards are likely to be no longer active, but the card itself can still be used. Since you'll want to have some sort of data plan, just adding funds to the card isn't a good idea. Go to a TIM store and get the plan that will best meet your needs. They've all changed in the past year.

For the phone, TIM has a new plan called TIM Welcome that gives you 2 gb of data (which is a lot for a phone)and 200 minutes of calls, both within Italy and to international numbers.

This plan is just for short-term visitors, and can't be activated on an existing SIM card, so if you want it, you'd have to buy a new SIM card. It's for one month, and can't be renewed.

Otherwise, there are similar plans called TIM Special Limited Edition (€15 with 500 mb of data) or TIM Special Start (€19 with 1 gb of data). These don't include international calls, but you can activate TIM International New, which allows you to call many countries for 20 cents a minute or less:

For the tablet, the best plan might be Internet Start, €10 with 2 gb per month, especially if you try to use wifi whenever available.

If you think you'll need more than that, there are several plans with more data.

By the way, the TIM Welcome plan allows tethering, and it would be hard to use 2 gb on a phone within a month, so if you'll mostly be using wifi with the tablet, you might not need the SIM card, because you could use your phone as a wifi hotspot (if iPhones have that feature).

Wow! Thanks for all the advice everyone. I think I'll go to the TIM shop in rome where I got the sims last year and take the best deal on the day.

I have used the TIM kiosk at FCO as well as a store on Corso. I liked dealing with the FCO kiosk better. They were more familiar with plans suitable for short term visitors. It was in the secure side of the terminal, and it was just before the one way entry ramp down to the luggage claim area if you are flying on Alitalia, KLM, etc.

If you are taking the train into Rome, the TIM store in Termini will know all the tourist plans.
