Tickets to Theatre in London

We would like to pre purchase our tickets to a show Lion King or similar which is a good and reliable tickets agent to use.

try lastminute.com. they may or may not have the lion king. since they do discount tickets they do not have all the shows, all the time.

i have used lastminute many times always got top seats and never had a problem.

Why do you want to pay a booking agency to get you tickets? You can very easily call the Lyceum Theatre box office directly - save the booking fee and they will hold the tickets at the box office for you to pick up when you are in London.

Phone number (from the States) 011 44 131 248 4848

Yes, janis has the right idea. DO NOT call ticketmaster or someone like that unless you enjoy throwing money away!

Unfortunately in the US and looking for Broadway tickets, that's about the only alternative if you're from out of town, as you can't call box offices and buy tickets directly. But in London you can call a theatre direct and they will hold the tickets for you and there is little or no charge at all for doing so!

Need numbers to call?
Check www.theatremonkey.com
then call during midday business hours -- allow for the time change of course.
Want to call cheap? If in the US, pick up the phone and dial 101-6868-011-44-(then the rest of your number).
Less than 5 cents a minute!

i agree, if you are not interested in discount tickets, then contact the theatre directly.

i read too much into the post and assumed that they wanted discounts because i thought contacting the theatre was too obvious.

Theatremonkey was the cheapest place we checked last November, by more than 15%.

newtraveller01 Apr 22nd, 2005 04:28 AM

thanks for the information - I am going to call the theatre direct

Patrick, does that phone number begin 101 or 110?

janis Apr 23rd, 2005 12:10 PM

I don't know about the long distance access number Patrick mentioned - but I use 1010 987. It does the same thing - gets you REALLY low long distance rates

The number would be 1010 987 followed by 011 44 and the rest of the phone number.

Which cheap long distance carrier you can use may vary depending on your home phone company. You can google for a list of them and then look to see which your area code/prefix will work with.

The number I used is 101- not 1010.
I have a sticker on my rolodex and I'm not sure where I got it from, but I always use it for calling Europe. Actually I have two numbers I can use:
101-6400 and 101-6868. These have always both been under 5 cents a minute anywhere I've called in Europe.

Had a funny think happen with 1010 numbers. My neice stayed in my apartment while I was away and kept trying to call her teenager at home -- always busy. She dialed 1010 something or another from my phone about 50 times. Each call (to a busy signal) cost $1.50 (the minimum, I guess -- even if there is no answer) -- so on my bill was an extra charge of something like $75 for phone calls that never went through!
