Tickets for inter island ferries

Has anyone out there used the greek ferries to go from Athens to Mykonos, Naxos, Santorini, etc???
We want to konw if we need to make reservations ahead of time or wait until we get there? We will be there in the first three weeks of Sept.

These are popular islands with several ferries a day. Ships will only be full on a few peak days when it is prudent to buy tickets a day or two in advance. In September, you will have no trouble buying tickets when you get to the port of Pireas.

GeoffHamer,
Thanks for the good info. We are relieved and should have no cause for worry!

We bought our tickets the day before and the Hellas Super Fast ferries were shockingly nice and were indeed super fast. We even bought plane tickets the same day to get out of Mikonos-no sweat. Travel is so much easier in the islands than in the USA and there are ticket agencies everywhere in the islands; very easy.

I concur, prebooking for the ferries isn't at all necessary in September although a flight might be, depending on which day of the week you might want to depart the islands.
