Ticino area of Switzerland - apt or house rentals
 

DW and I are looking into a trip to this southern area of Switzerland - the wonderland mountains combined with Italian flavor! We enjoy having a homebase for a week - in an apt or small house (as we had in Tuscany and Provence) - to be able to return "home" after a day's outing. We would appreciate any suggestions on such accommodations, perhaps in Locarno.

You probably know the vocabulary for such occasions from your Toscana stay. Use the Google translation feature in in doubt, or your dictionary etc.

We've used a US company-Untours-to arrange apartment rentals in multiple places in Europe-Germany, Swiss Heartland, Venice, and Locarno. We have stayed for two weeks, but they recently started offering weekly rentals. Have always been pleased with location and accommodations. Local transportation-train/bus passes or car rental-is included, as well as a local English speaking staff person to greet you at the airport and be available to answer questions, or if you have a problem. We really enjoyed Locarno and its proximity to the lakes-it definitely has an Italian flavor. We were there in the spring-I hear it can be quite warm in the summer.

Well, after more research we have decided to focus on Italian - by returning to Italy next year. So, thoughts of Switzerland have been forgotten for now. I do appreciate your feedback, and will save the information.
