Thrums Hotel in Edinburgh
I'm trying to nail down a centrally located room in Edinburgh for September, 2007. I realize this is rather far in advance, but you know how quickly rooms fill up in Edinburgh. I'll be there for 20 nights, and my budget limit is 50 £ per night (I travel solo). The best I've come up with so far is the Thrums Hotel.
I know this is rather an old hotel, but it is 3 stars. I've read the reviews, and they are very contradictory. Some praise it, others loath it. Have any of you stayed there, and if so, what did you think of it? This will be my first trip back to Europe after double knee replacements. You wouldn't believe how wonderful it is to feel like traveling again! |

Not in September they don't. The place is liek a ghost town at the moment with mostly OAPs - sorry senior citizens - on day trips to Holyrood |
So, AlanRow, do you have any suggestions for a nice place to stay for around £50 pounds?

For 20 nights, why don't you consider renting a flat?

Just do a search, half the postings about Edinburgh are about accomodation.
I'm a cheapskate & so when I did need accomodation I got a £10 per room deal wth Travelodge for 2 weeks. But they aren't doing that anymore |
I have thought of renting an appartment, Barbara, but I love having my room cleaned, bed made, breakfast cooked, no dishes to wash, etc. while I'm on vacation. Guess I'm just lazy!
