@Maribel — my mistake. I thought you had recommended H10 Corregidor Boutique on another thread. Now I see it is another H10 property. I will look into it. We will most likely want to retreat to the hotel room for a siesta given the heat so the closer to the center the better! Thanks for the recommendation.

I recommended the H10 Casa de la Plata, where we usually stay, as it's the closest of the 2 H10 Sevilla properties to the Alcázar and Cathedral and also to the main shopping street of Sierpes and to the Plaza de la Encarnación where the Las Setas monument sits (the largest wooden structure in the world).
If it helps, you can enroll in the free H10 frequent guest program, the Club H10, to receive a slight discount (every bit helps!) And yes, you'll most likely want to retreat from the heat after an early lunch, so the closer to the monuments, the better. And the newer the building, the better the a/c will be. |

My husband I have been to Madrid several times, but this is the first time for our friends. I would like the Prado again but am looking to do some “off the beaten track” experiences — smaller museums, architecture, etc. while our friends see the big sights. Any suggestions?

Visitors to the National Archaeological Museum can find a replica of the famous prehistoric Altamira cave paintings in an underground enclosure in the museum’s garden and admire a selection of the animals that were painted in Altamira cave between 35,000 and 13,000 years ago featuring multicolored paintings of bison as well as deer, horses, and wild boars.

The MAN, Museo Arqueológico Nacional, next to the Plaza de Colón on Serrano is indeed outstanding, as kja says. It's vast, so if you go you may want to plan lots of time for your visit. And it's free to those 65+ and under 18, with identification.

Holà Maribel ! As we discussed, would love to meet you in Pamplona tomorrow if we can make it work. We will be there only for a few hours after the bull run. What is a good place and how do I contact you?
|
Hola,
I was mistaken and thought that you would be in Pamplona on the 8th. I just forgot that we were planning a little escape. Tomorrow I'll still be in Ainhoa in the French Basque Country taking a little 4-day break from the madness of San Fermín and won't be back to Pamplona until Friday for the last 3 days, which will be far less crowded. So sorry! But enjoy the festival as it's totally unique! ¡Viva San Fermín! |
Sorry we will not be able to meet today, @Maribel. Another time, I hope.
We are on our balcony spot along the route right now, waiting for the bull run to start. Viva San Fermin and thanks again for all your help. Enjoy your time in Basque Country! |
