Three Venice hotels very close in price, but, is it apples or oranges?

Greetings, I'm almost done putting this puzzle of a trip together. Have made reservations in Vernazza, Verona, and Varenna; I'm down to Venice.

Hotel Ca' Formenta
Ca' Angeli
Locanda Orseolo

There is availability at all three for the time we want. My choices are about 10 Euros apart for the accommodations and so, it comes down to the things that make each special. It would be a real stretch for someone on this Board to have been to all three, but you must have more first hand knowledge than I have. I've made my list of positives for each, but, what do you think? Thanks

trust me....you want Locanda Orseolo hands down! There is a reason they are rated the #1 BB in Venice! Our group of 4 stayed there this past November....you will be spoiled by the staff as they pay attention to every detail! They greeted us upon entry into the lobby with a smile, handshake and welcome by our names!..and they had never seen any of us before..I had only corresponded with them via email to secure reservations. We were late coming to Venice from Zurich and I emailed them from the Zurich airport and they had already taken the liberty to consult and arrange our diner reservations that I had prearranged but now had to move back because of our late arrival!
Barbara, Matteo, Bruno and the entire staff will treat you as family. ...and you don't want to miss their Chocolate and banana crepes cooked to order for breakfast!yummmo

Our grown children stayed there a couple of years ago. They were very happy with the place and with the wonderful service from the staff. They continue to get e-mails from them periodically, always with the warmest wishes. We stopped for a drink one evening and found the place delightful as well. If they have room for you, snatch it up asap.

No experience with the hotels, but I just had to wonder: now that you are down to Vernazza, Verona, Varenna and Venice, does this mean you have already visited all the cities in Italy from A to V?

No, but when I typed the names in, it was odd to see all the Vs. We have been to Italy one other time (with a car) and visited the Florence area and coastline and Rome. This time we are on the train and these cities seem well connected. We are flying out of Milan, but I haven't started looking there, yet.

My husband and I stayed at Ca'Angeli last September and we loved it. I would highly recommend it.

Another vote for Locanda Orseolo.

We were fortunate to have stayed here for 4 glorious nights in October. L.O. ranks as one of our fave highlights in Venice. The staff will go out of their way to make your stay extra special.

I am a very discerning traveler and research extensively when we take a trip. I am happy to report that the L.O. exceeded all my expectations.

Book the L.O. If you're looking for:

1) Decor: Venetian flair with attention to detail.
2) Service: gracious, knowledgeable and outstanding.
3) Location: quiet, yet perfect location to all areas of Venice.
4) Breakfast: excellent hot hearty meal ( in all of our 19 day stay in Italy, L.O. was the only place that offered eggs/crepes to order...and they were delicious!).

We booked L.O. nearly a year advance to be sure to get a room. They get (much deserved) rave reviews and are the #1 ranked B & B/Inn on tripadvisor.com.

Are you staying at La Mala in Vernazza? If not, please consider. This was another one of our top stays in Italy. Words cannot describe this amazing place. It's the ONLY place we will ever stay in Cinque Terre. http://www.lamala.it/en/index.html

Buon Viaggio!

Not to throw another bone in the mix....but, the group that runs Locanda Orseolo have a new inn which is right on the Grand Canal called Al Ponte Antico.

We decided we'll stay at Locanda Orseolo. I was also interested in Oltre Il Giardino, but they are booked for our dates in June.

And we are also planning to stay at La Mala' in Vernazza. I'm glad to hear we made a good choice.

Thanks for all your help; picking accomodations was pretty time consuming for a week there.

You made the right choice with Locanda Orseolo. It is amazing how they maintain the energy to give everyone who has ever been there the best experience of their lives, but they do it without fail.

That is so exciting they have a new property and right on the Grand Canal! Gives me another excuse to return to Venice...
