Most flights from the USA land in the morning and the taxi queues at Paddington are AWFUL then. Jody, I actually think a car service could be faster than the HEX/taxi option when you add in all the schlepping of luggage for each leg, and waiting up to 30 minutes for a taxi at Paddington (remember MariaPat mentioned "older" women - probably would only say that if there is some sort of mobility problem. Otherwise why mention it at all)

If they are exhausted/jet lagged and "older" the trek in from LHR could be a turn off for the whole trip and get them all off on the wrong foot. Why not just hire a car service and have comfy door-to-door service -- and save money in the bargain. Seems like a no brainer to me.

Alfies is open on Saturdays (contrary to a previous post) and is on or very near Church St (if I recall correctly). Nearest tube, Edgeware Road.

Greys Antique Market (nearest tube Bond St) is the one closed at weekends (except for xmas time).

Do consider a visit to Camden Passage in Islington (nearest tube is Angel or various buses, including 19, 38, 73, 205 and 274). It's less crowded and there are fewer tourists, but there are about 200 dealers. The main trading days are Wednesdays and Saturdays.
