Three eyewitness accounts of traveling to Greece 2015

The Guardian today published a trio of eyewitness accounts of travel in Greece that go a long way toward debunking the false picture being published in political media. Plus, they are well written and give a nice portrait of the immense variety and deep tranquility of Greece, and the pleasures of going there and enjoying the hospitality of the Greek people.

People rushing out to buy things is tranquility?

It's one thing to visit a pace, a very different other thing to live in a place.

As an Athenian all I can say is : everything is normal, I don't see people rushing to buy things.... and life continues in anticipation of the news from Brussels.

Thanks for reporting in, clausar, from Greece itself. I don't doubt what you say.

In the meantime, thought it would be useful to re-post this here, from today's Irish Independent:

Ryanair offers flights to Greece for €5

Bargain hunters interested in flying to Greece will be able to snap up the cheap flights within the next two weeks.

Travel must be from July 13 until July 26, Ryanair has said.

Ryanair’s Chief Commercial Officer, David O’Brien, said: “We will continue to “Keep Greece Flying” by cutting Greek domestic fares to just €4.99 for two weeks (travel from Mon 13th July until Sun, 26th July).

“We are also cutting 30pc off our fares on international routes to/from Greece, for travel from Monday 13th July until the end of October. These sale fares are available for booking for one week on the Ryanair.com website (ending on Friday, 17th July)."

All those Brits just dragged back from Tunisia need somewhere to go, I was watching AlJazeera today and they were showing empty restaurants in holiday areas so going has to be a good deal.
