Three days in Prague..What would you do?
 

Hi, I've got three days in Prague and would like to make the most of my stay. I am looking for suggested itineraries from those of you who know and love this city. I like to shop(for interesting and unique items), I like a little history, churches, views and of course, good food. It will be cold(December)so super long walks outside are out(although I am from NY and used to pretty cold winters). I guess I just feel a little overwhelmed trying to plan. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I travel to Prague quite often and it is a lovely city ,3 days will go in a flash.You could spend a day in the castle area alone,but a visit to the old town and the Jewish area as well trying to climb all the towers will give you lots to do.
The National Museum is not great for exhibits but worth visiting just to see the interior of the building.I can also highly reccommend a tour of the Municiple House(great place for afternoon coffee or a drink)
The Royal Route is a great way of seeing the city so have a look at this.

Due to a flight snafu, I ended up spending a whole week in Prague last December...three days would have been ideal but here are some suggestions on what to do.

1. Castle area - 1/2 day
2. Old Town - 1/2 day
3. Jewish Quarter - 2 hours
4. Welceslas Square - 2 hours
5. Take in a concert - look for daily postings in your hotel lobby of events going on that day and discounted tickets.
6. Stop at a cafe for coffee and a snack and people-watch.
7. Walk from the Castle area down to the Charles Bridge and cross to the other side. We spent a whole day shopping in the little stores and galleries there.

Prague is a great walking city and it only snowed for a few hours on one day the whole week. If you have a warm scarf, gloves and maybe a hat, you'll be fine.

Be sure to take a camera! I got some charming photos of an elegant coal black horse-drawn carriage with gold bells and red velvet trim going down a cobblestone street in the snow, as well as some beautiful pictures of the sunset from the bridge once the snow stopped and the sun came out.

can I just add that the suggestion of going to a concert or even opera is a great one.
Classical Music and opera is realtively cheap in Prague and of a very high standard.The best shows are at the National Opera,Municiple House(Obencni Dum),Estates Theatre,National Theatre and the Rudolfinium.

I have bought tickets on line several times with this company and had them delivered to my hotel for a small fee.
There are many small halls that have "Tourist Concerts" that tend to be about 1 hour long and are ok,but not as good as the main places.
St Georges Crypt up by the castle often does these in the early evening and the place is very nice,it was the place I first heard a hapsicord being played live for the first time.
Your Hotel or tourist office will have details of these ,but you will find people in the street(often in costume) handing out flyers for these shows.
