Thistle Trafalgar - Nice place?
 

I just booked a room through Londontown.com (great site!) for the Thistle Trafalgar. I made sure I could cancel with no charge. We've never been to London - is this a good location and a decent hotel? The Morgan Hotel is already booked and this one seemed to get good raves from people who have been/live in London. And en suite means toilet in room, so I've been told? Is this correct? Thanks for any info/advice/warnings!

My mother & I stayed there in Sept. I thought it was great. Rooms aren't big as usual, but good-sized bathroom, lots of hot water and good water pressure. Nice buffet breakfast with just about anything you could want. It's a great location for theatre and a good base for bus routes (Trafalgar Square has almost any bus line stopping there) and of course there's a tube station as well. Lots of nice restaurants closeby in Covent Garden. Have fun!

Almost forgot, yes, ensuite means private bathroom in the room (full bath, not just toilet and sink).

You'll be very happy with the TT. I stayed there 2 years ago and loved that it was around the corner from the National Gallery, walking distance to so many theaters, and restaurants,etc.
It's a small hotel so it was very pleasant and never a big hubbub going on. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Thank you! I think we'll stay put. I'm trying to book for several people with varying economic standing and wants/needs. On one hand, I have my parents who need to be comfortable and will probably never visit there again so I want this to be a nice place and it's within their budget. It's a little high for me but who cares if I'm happy? I've been all over the place on hotel reservations. Then there's my sister and brother-in-law who definitely have the money but love the "bargain" hunting and adventure of it all! In the past, they've found some nice places at bargain rates, but sometimes not. So, I'm teetering between "definitely nice place to stay, location, spend a little extra and enjoy" or "save $20-$30 and take your chances!" I think I'll stick with the Trafalgar. Thanks, everyone! I've required lots of hand holding through this and everyone has been so helpful. I'll report back on the Adventures of Two Okies in the UK and try to pass on helpful hints that I learn along the way.
