I think Editors might had their point in deletion of a thread (they did not want to take their time to alter it purhapse) but they could simply reply saying that thread is gone or something seeing how many people are concern...

I wrote, too.
AlthoughI didn't write any thoughts on the thread yesterday, I followed it throughout the day. When I returned after supper, I found it jarring that it was gone. I felt the power of that thread and felt lost by its removal-- it provided an anchor for everyone to share, and by doing so, connect during a difficult time.

Try though I might, I am unable to email this thread to the editors at Fodors. Do you think they've shut off that function for this thread? In any event, I did have time to read some of the original posts yesterday and came away from my computer screen with a wonderful sense of community. Thank you Buzzy for putting it into such eloquent words. E.J.

I did it. And I sent a note:
Hi guys,
Yesterday...well, yesterday was special. A lot of Londoners were checking in to let us know they were ok. Still others of us were offering words of condolence to those who suffered in the attacks. Many of us talked about going over anyway (hey, something travel related!)
I realize there are rules, and for the record, I did stay out of the political fray to the best of my abilities by not engaging those who made offending remarks. BUT I would appreciate it, like most Fodorites, if you would replace that thread that was doomed yesterday, because it had a lot of people checking in and a lot of notes that many needed to read.
Thanks for your consideration.

Thanks for the suggestion -- I did it too.
I was surprised yesterday when I finally had time to add a message and discovered that the thread had been pulled. The thread expressed the best of this cyber community. If a few sentiments were, um, not the best, hey, we are grownup here, and we can deal.
(I'm still thinking about the Matthew Arnold poem that Robespierre aptly quoted -- it was a welcome moment of pause and reflection in a crazy day. Does anyone know the poem title?)
And "Carry On, London", as they used to say -- we know you will.
