Ditto Julie on Alsace. The wine route is the way to go. Colmar is a good place to base. All the little villages are really cute - Eguisheim was our favorite! Wonderful wineries too!<BR><BR>Also love Burgandy. Our favorite village is Vezelay (close to Avallon) which has a basilica, Sainte Madeleine which <BR>dates from 878. There are many wonderful villages in the area. We have used a book - Discovering the Villages of France by Michael Busselle - to research the different areas of France. It has been most helpful. Also recommend the Michelin Motoring Atlas for finding your way around the many areas you plan to visit.
