Third Reich tour in Munich

Hi all<BR><BR>Has anyone done the above tour? I found it on About.com<BR><BR>thank you

I did this tour in Berlin (same company) in 1999. An American graduate student gave a good (but not great-made some factual errors) lecture and pointed out many sites that were not obvious or easily found on one's own.

I did a similar tour in Munich, simply called "Hitler's Munich" by a walking tour company. Although I was heavily into History 152 in college, the tour really shows you bits & pieces of history that you could never learn about in school. There is nothing quite like seeing these places for yourself!

Munich has more history to offer than Hitler Tours. Why this obsession? <BR>If you're so into history try &gt;&gt;www.muenchen.de&lt;&lt;<BR>(There is an English language link.)<BR>Then link "Tourismus & Verkehr"<BR>Then link "Guides".<BR>I warmly recommend the "Tour of the Historical Old City" including the Nymphenburg Castle, and the "Museums, Castles and Churches Tour" will both present a far more accurate picture of our city. <BR>(Marc David Miller says he noticed some factual errors in the Berlin tour. So I'm wondering if there were some that he didn't notice. No offence meant to Marc David)Munich tours should be able to answer any questions which you may have on 20th Century history accurately.<BR>Check it out.

I am surprised to hear there are this type of tours in Munich when you can hardly can get locals to give you directions to Dachau. Never heard of them until recently, have to wonder the whole undertone....

I have not taken such a tour in Munich, but have in Berlin. My motives were, I think, not dishonourable: I was able to consider as I went the nature of patriots, demagogues, and racists, and what gives them success. Applied to Europe now these thoughts are not comfortable. American readers can consider whether the Hitler story has any bearing on Senator MacCarthy and on the present camp in Cuba. I hope to hear you say it has no bearing at all.

Not as sick as the Jack the Ripper tours. The nazi tours have great historical significance and concern events that we should not forget.Jack the ripper was just a sick serial killer.I cant believe the people who go on these tours.

Beanie, <BR><BR>thank you (and everyone else) for coming to my 'defense' (not that I need it) but I just want to say - I am a woman. (yep, some of us are interested in history too you know. ;-)<BR><BR>I could tell some of y'all a thing or two about WWII - but that sure doesn't make me a nazi. (it does make me an interested citizen of the world though. try it sometime, you might like it!!)<BR><BR>and it is interesting to hear history as NOT written by the victors... <BR><BR>noch einmal, danke schoen.

I'm amazed that there are Third Reich tours in Munich. I've been to Munich 8 or 9 times and have yet to see one placard or sign indicating that those Third Reich dudes even existed.<BR><BR>The only "Nazi" I ever saw was about 30 and served us at the Hofbrauhaus and insisted that Salzburg was and is part of Germany...what an idiot! <BR><BR>US
