Thinking of the trip of a lifetime

Ii swore I am not visiting Europe anymore except Italy when I am retired and I am going foe a few month.

However it is possibility that we might have to take one long European trip.

Italy and Spain a must (or one other Spanish speaking country).

Trip lenght 3-4 weeks. June-July.
Venecia is must, Rome is very desirable. Maybe Milan. Not sure about country.
In Spain - anything goes!

I am still hoping for the guided or partially guided trip.
I would love to have some 'do nothing' time for ourselves maybe before and after departure to each other place.

I am open to suggestions also estimate on how much such trip will cost.

Thanks for your time

What other Spanish-speaking country is there in Europe besides Spain?

SC - love your humor!

Isn't Catalan Spanish the national language of Andorra? The OP could go there.

<< I am open to suggestions also estimate on how much such trip will cost.>>

We don't know where you're going (cities, countryside), nor how many people will be going. Will you take public transport or rent a car. What type of lodging. Do you like to eat expensive meals or plain fare. How can anyone estimate what your trip will cost without knowing the particulars. My guess is somewhere between $3,000 and $20,000.

I don't think ANY trip of 3-4 weeks to Europe can cost $3K.
And feel free to save yourself trouble answering if you hate the question, adrienne.
It is best for all of us to not to be mean because meanness and rudeness walk hand by hand.

I was trying to see if anyone has anything to say about such long trip. I had never planned anything such grand. I also don't know where I am going - this is why I asked. I had listed cities I would like to visit. I asked if countryside is worth thinking of. I think I gave plenty of info and when I don't know how many people are going - I would estimate for 1 person. Nicely. Thanks

Wow - I was simply pointing out that you didn't give us any information to be able to estimate your trip costs. I gave you a realistic answer and you came back with a rude comment.

I happen to think that 1 person can see Europe, including the cities you mention, for 3 to 4 weeks for $3K. I don't think this is such a long trip.

Perhaps you can't or don't want to do the trip this inexpensively but there is no need to suggest that I'm not being nice simply because you have a different opinion.

My estimate stands. Nicely.

There's no such thing as "Catalan Spanish." Catalan is a separate and distinct language.

And I agree that the OP doesn't provide enough information to make an informed guess about where to go or how much it will cost. I have taken many, many 3- and 4- and 6- and 8- and 10-week vacations in Europe and some of them have been in one country and some of them have been in many. Some have been in cities, some in the countryside, and some a combination. The costs varied wildly, depending on where I was, who was with me, what we chose to do, what kind of accommodations we chose, etc.

There really isn't a reasonable or useful answer to this question. A better approach would be to set a budget and see what you could plan within it.

Thanks St-Cirq! I don't have much knowledge about Spain and didn't realize that Catalan was a separate language. I'm always amazed at what I learn on this board.
