I am indeed thinking of it...fondly from memories of our time spent there last month; sadly with respect to those killed or injured yesterday, and for their families and friends; and with anticipation of our return there next year. My thoughts are with all Londoners.

I've taken trips to London 5 times - more than any other destination other than NY. I've long felt an affinity for all things British - I remember insisting on 'tea' instead of a 'snack' in 4th grade, reading every Agatha Christie book in 7th and loving the descriptions of English life. My prayers are with all of you as you simply go on with your lives, cherishing each moment. I will be back!

I think everyone on this board is saddened by unneccesary deaths in any country but the topic of this thread is "Thinking of London" so let's keep it to that. We just want our friends in London and all of the UK to know that we are thinking about them and support them 100 percent.

2136, Paula is not uncomfortable but annoyed, because we all have friends in London.
So don't make more of that than what it is. I'm sure we all know how sad death is wherever or whom it happens.
I pray every day so not one Iraqi or American dies.

On BBCAmerica news there was a story of a woman who was walking around the streets showing a picture of a friend who was missing. The friend was found seriously injured but alive in one of the hospitals.
Keep her in your prayers and please don't lose hope that your friend will be found!

SeaUrchin, please let us know. I just this morning heard from our last two friends who had not replied to my email. They are safe, although one of them lives right across the street from where the bus was bombed. I'm hoping for the best for your friend.

Thank you for the good thoughts, it is strange that he hasn't answered our emails or returned phone messages. Hopefully he is off on a trip somewhere having fun and not checking in. I'll keep you updated, thanks.

I don't usually read the Europe board as it's been so long since we've been to Europe. But all the expressions of condolence on the US board led me here.
My husband and I spent 10 wonderful days in England (5 of them in London) in 1982. They're among our best memories.
I remember being told at the time that most Americans, no matter what their ancestry (even if it's German and Irish as ours is!), feel a sense of homecoming when they visit England. After all, we were all raised on Mother Goose!
So I think that most of us feel as though it was one of "our own" that was attacked yesterday. Even more so considering that it's been Britain that has truly been with us in Iraq (no matter how we may feel about our involvement in Iraq).
My heart goes out to all who've been touched by this tragedy. And my admiration goes to all of Britain for the way they've handled it.

I was just looking at the latest news and they were talking about the missing people in London. I just pray that the unnaccounted for will be found soon so their families can have some peace.

Good news SeaUrchin, thanks for sharing. We had a friend who was suppose to be on the PanAm flight that exploded over Lockerbe (sp). It turned out he had flown home the day before but nobody in his life knew that. What a relief - but I sure remember the hours of stress and worry at that time. Have a beautiful and relaxing Saturday evening!

hmmm... I believe quite a few American troops are paying attention.
I have also read in our newspaper of personal accounts of people trying to locate a missing loved one. These are so moving to me - that one can hold so much hope and despair in his heart simultaneously.
