Thinking of joining the Summit Club...

I am going to Italy this June and and somehow I have made reservations in 5 Summit hotels. I am trying to decide if it is worth becoming a member of the summit club--specifically in high season will the hotels honor the benefits--upgrades--free night etc. Any feedback? thanks, Wendy

LOL when I first read your headline, I thought you were referring to the Mile High Club!

I always join the club of any airline hotel rental car company. they always give you something if only a late check out. sometimes you can combine miles from one to another and if i were going to stay at 5 hotels in one chain i would certainly join the club

Is there a charge to join? If not, then by all means go for it. I have a desk drawer filled with hotel club cards. It is amazing what I sometimes am offered as incentives, and when I am going somewhere I can pull a few rabbits out of the hat. I even joined a Tasmania Hotel Club to get free upgrades (it worked) on a single trip staying at one of their hotels. I don't plan to go back to Tasmania, but I still have that card, and it was worth it to join for free just to get a suite instead of a room when I did go. I do know that Summit now gives American Airlines miles, so you are up for 2500 miles with 5 stays -- or maybe more.

By the way, I too thought this was a new name for the "mile high club".

Oh my'' No I am not talking about the Mile High Club!! There is a fee of$50.00 dollars--they send you a coupon of that value that you can apply,,howevert this is not honored if the hotel is booked--also all other benifits--ie upgrades are also subject to availabilty. Anyway I guess it is up to me decide.
