Things you love about Heathrow
 

So here's your chance to list all the things you like - or even love - about LHR.

I love that just as you're sure you must have wandered into a service hallway, with dangling wires and steampipes.... no, you're saved! You spot one of those generic yellow signs letting you know you are now only 5km from your next queue.

The bathrooms were clean.

The bookstores where you can buy paperback "airport editions" of books that are only out in hardcover in the rest of the world.

I love the fact that Northwest doesn't fly into there -- and I fly Northwest!

The crytalized ginger buscuits in the SAS lounge - which have not been there for the last year or so!

"Things you love about Heathrow" - It's in London!

The fact that there's plenty of things to do while waiting for the flight, a feature not found in many US airports I've been to.

However, my time at Heathrow is when I am waiting for a flight going on holiday (rather than returning home) so maybe I'm just in a good mood when I am there which probably helps.

Boots the Chemists where even on transit flights i can cop some Aspirin- or Tylenol-and Codeine for potential tooth or knee pains!

I'm going to take the thread seriously since there's a couple of things I DO love about Heathrow:

- the distinctive portholes built into the doors at the end of the jetway ramps, making it feel as though you're emerging from a sunken ship when you finally walk through into the gate area

- the security

- the fact that it's in EUROPE and Brussels [type your final destination here] can't be far behind.

The easy tube connection into central London. Also, for any of us who are active or retired military, the twice daily direct bus to RAF Mildenhall.

It has <b>efficient</b>,<b>fast</b>and <b>public</b> transport links to the center of the city (I wish we could say all three about Dulles in the so-called &quot;center of the universe/free world&quot; but I suppose some day we'll actually catch up with Europe!

It's a memory, actually. My first ever trip to europe...first ever solo trip..and I landed at Heathrow. I was so excited to be in Europe, and I remember checking out on the displays all of the exotic places that flights were coming form/going to...and the different cultures represented by all of the people at the airport.

It was the first entry point to a whole new phase of my life.

At least I now know where &quot;door number three&quot; is in terminal 2, so if my luggage ever gets sent to a different terminal than I do again, I will know to look for the telephone behind the staircase, next to the men's room, to call someone to come to the special entrance to retrieve my luggage.

I don't love the circumstances that made me learn this, but I love that I know it.

Why would you say &quot;so called&quot; - facts are facts.

I don't &quot;love&quot; anything about any airport but if I have to be there I do appreciate it's efficient links to the centre of the city and it does have great shops.

What I like or love about Heathrow:
It is in England.
Every time I have arrived there, I have made it all in one piece..(so has my luggage).
The Shops.
Somehow, it has more &quot;charm&quot; than EWR or JFK..or maybe that is just me.

I'll take this one a bit seriously, so here goes. :)

The fact that being there normally means I'm coming home to the UK or leaving to visit friends and family. So not necessary the airport itself, but what it represents to me.

Bit of a selfish one, but the visa-holders queues in some of the terminals. Makes immigration loads easier, especially if you're coming in at that magical 7am time slot and they haven't put everyone at an immigration desk yet. Always seems to move faster than the other passports or the UK/EU lines.
