We are spending 3 full days in Bath and are after an itinerary of things to do in a daily order.
No point reinventing the wheel, ideas like what else to see along with Roman baths, day trip to Stonehenge, day trip into wales?
Any suggestions appreciated

Where else are you already going? What are your interests? Will you have a car?

My suggestions are:

Stonehenge, Avebury, Lacock, Castle Combe, the Cotswolds generally, Corsham, Chepstow Castle, Tintern, St Fagans (Welsh National History museum near Cardiff), Big Pit.

You might want to give Trowbridge a miss.

Wells, Longleat House, Stourhead Garden, Prior Park garden, ...

We did a very enjoyable day trip into Wales and up the Wye River to Tintern Abbey, then back down, stopping at Chepstow Castle. Tintern was especially impressive and affecting.

But there's lots to see in Bath, depending on your interests. Guidebooks that rate sights include the green Michelin Guides and Rick Steves. There are free walking tours of the center: http://visitbath.co.uk/things-to-do/...-guides-p43001

Otherwise, a walk up to Sham castle (a castle facade) gives you nice views over the city, and it's free!

Lastly definitely take advantage of the audio tour at the Roman baths, it's fab!

and has no-one thought of Berkley Castle? - Edward II met a particularly grizzly end there. [and I use the word "end" advisedly].

Along with those mentioned I'd add en route from London: Winchester Cathedral, Chawton (Jane Austin house), ancient Old Sarum, Salisbury Cathedral with Magna Carta copy.

Don't pass up the free volunteer led walking tour of Bath leaving daily at 10 am from in front of the pump room (but check the time at the TI just to make sure). Just show up - no reservation needed.

If you love used books (as I do) there is a great town not TOO far (well, a good day trip) called Hay-on-Wye - has more used book stores in it than anywhere I've been. Like 20 in this small village, at least. Some are specialized - great little town.

Avebury is definitely a great visit - stone circle a mile wide with a village in it!

Twice on visits to Bath I've walked along the Kennet & Avon Canal to Bradford, about 5 miles if I remember correctly. The path goes through beautiful countryside, crosses the river on the Dundas Aquaduct and on to very pretty Bradford-on-Avon. There are local buses back to Bath.

If you don't want to go as far as that, from the center of Bath south of the Pulteney Bridge, it's an easy walk along the canal to The George pub in Bathampton for lunch.

There's a fair bit in Bath itself. I liked the Building of Bath Museum and the house at 1 Royal Crescent, and also recommend the guided walk.
