Things to do on NY DAY in Paris
I will be in Paris on NY Day with my teenaged daughters -- any ideas of things to do, areas where resaturants and shops might be open, etc would be welcomed --I have a list of open museums already -- need not be touristy -- thanks much.

Don't expect a whole lot of shops to be open except in places like the Champs Elysées.
It might be useful for you to know that all public transportation is free from 5pm on the 31st until noon on the 1st. |
Many restaurants and cafes will be closed for vacation.
You can use TheFork or LaFourchette to make reservations. Movies are good - if you get the VOST instead of the VO (French). Spectacles are on this website: ticketac.com |
There is supposed to be a New Year's Day Concert on the Eiffel Tower and a New Year's Day Concert at Saint Eustache.
Check Patrica Wells' Food Lover’s Guide to Paris App - iPhone or iPad only (www.patriciawells.com/patricias-picks/) or Paris by Mouth (parisbymouth.com) to see what restaurants will be open on NYD. Not many! |
The temporary public ice-skating rink on top of the Grande Arche at Défense will be open from noon till 7pm:

There is also a free skating rink on the lower terrace of the Forum des Halles.

Thank you all for your help!
