Things to do in Zurich

Hi,

I will be in Zurich with my family for 4 days, from 29th July to 1st August. What are the main attractions or activities that will keep us occupied for 4 days?

Regards
Ajmal

Have you tried the local tourist office for some information: www.zuerich.com/en/visit/zurich-sights

Zurich is primarily a business city and unless you want to see a couple of museums and the Old Town (done pretty well in a day) I suggest you get out of the city and into the mountains that are the primary purpose of going to Switzerland.

My favorite is the Berner Oberland. You could base in Interlaken (between lakes Thun and Brienz) with steamers on each lake. Lake Thun is surrounded by several lovely towns, including Thun with it's castles and Brienz has wonderful waterfalls, a wood carver's village with lot to see/do and easy access to the Ballenberg museum of swiss life. Or stay in one of the towns in the foothills of the Jungfrau with several hikes, long and short, some very easy, as well as the chance to ascent the Jungfrau (more than 12,000 feet) and see the fantastic views on the way up and the various activities at the top - including exploring the glacier/snow.

Another good base is Lucern, with access to several slightly smaller mountains (Pilatis, Titlus, etc) plus steamers on the lake to visit some of the charming small villages on the lake. The town itself has some great sights including the ancient town walls, Lion monument, museums and wooden bridge.

Unlike nytraveler, I found a great deal to enjoy in Zurich. Consul any decent guidebook, or the link provided upthread.

Thank You!!!

I have also got a Eurail Select Pass as I will be travelling to Switzerland from Paris.

Will I be able to travel to Interlaken with the Select Pass?

Which is the best rail pass to travel from Wengen to Lucerne and then Lucerne to Zurich, if I spend 2 nights in each place?
