Things to do in Bristol!
 

<BR>Hi, I'm spending a day in Bristol before flying out to Dublin. I was just wondering if someone could recommend some sights worth seeing in Bristol, and any info on restaurants and shopping would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Kavey, thanks for your reply. We're actually staying in the city center and our time is limited as we just really have the day. I'd really love it if you could give me any suggestions on the attractions or shopping in the city center. Thanks a mill... Shona.

Shona,<BR>Drop me an email and I will get back to you.<BR>I have a good friend in Bristol and when we go we often go shopping, though more recently we've spent time exploring outside of Bristol.<BR>Since I don't know the names of the areas very well I will email him and ask him for some advice.<BR>It might take me a couple of days, as I start a new job on Monday too, so have to be good and get onto email only in the evenings!<BR>Kavey

Some ideas for Bristol and area:<BR><BR>For shopping:<BR>The Mall, Cribbs Causeway is the big out-of-town shopping centre.<BR>Broadmead, centre of Bristol, is the main shopping district.<BR>Park Street - 10 mins walk from Broadmead, has nice stuff including Guild shop.<BR>Also for some of the smaller traders Clifton, Redland and near us on<BR>Gloucester road are good. These especially for food shops.<BR><BR>Sightseeing:<BR>A trip on a boat in the harbour is great on a nice day. Lasts between 30mins and an hour depending on the route.<BR>Cabot tower and the park surrounding it.<BR>Ashton Court has lots of green space - pitch and put and kiteflying are good there<BR>Clifton Suspension bridge<BR>Tourist Information has detail of walking tours of the city, if history is of interest.<BR>St Mary Radcliffe Church "the most beautiful parish church in England" <BR>SS Great Britain<BR>Bristol Zoo - inc penguin coast<BR>@Bristol - IMAX, hands on science bit and virtual zoo with lots of info plus smaller animals<BR><BR>Good day trips<BR>Dyham Park - national trust property<BR>City of Bath - Cathedral, lots of shops, botanical gardens, roman baths, costume museum<BR>Wells inc Cathedral<BR>Glastonbury<BR>

For pleasant places to eat with views, I guess I'd choose Riverstation or the Severnshed (next door to each other). Both have a bar and a restaurant, so you can do whatever you want. The bike shop just along the quay has a nice, more "natural" cafe - and I've forgotten its name!<BR><BR>Bar Ha Ha just off Park Street is quite nice for coffee or a drink.
