WOW. This is a comment of the picture of Matt (in my head) hurling his dinner.

Hello Matt, Lobo and Sher
Thanks a bunch for all your previous posts! Do you guys know of a card that I can plug into my computer for internet access in Portugal? I am going to the Algarve and renting a villa with family. I would like to bring my laptop, but the villa does not have internet access. ANY SUGGESTIONS??? |
Matt, Lobo and all1
Hello from Cascais. I am so sorry but we are not going to make it tonight! I am so sick from some fish I ate ( at least I think it was the fish)I am not sure I can get off the terrace. Am very dissapointed, we were very much looking forward to it. Have a good time and I will look forward to reading about the festivities. Lyn |
Dear Ladylyn and DH, I don't want to push you because it's your recovery that's important. However, if you feel better from now to late afternoon don't discard the possibility to attend. I understand that the foods we've selected are not suitable for you im this moment, but I'm sure Mr Jaime can prepare a tea, or a salad or a plain grilled steak or some kind of diet food for you.
I hope you didn't become affraid with the prespective of eating the pig ears salad :-) Don't worry, because that is mandatory only for LDC members in full health condition :-) |
Or perhaps you were nervous of singing Karoake? No, seriously as Lobo says take it easy and perhaps we'll see you. I have some other things for this week that might interest you too, which I'll post later.
Take care, Matt |
Hi Joseyrobin. I am the most computer illiterate person I know.
Do you mean like a WIFI card? But there must be a WIFI broadcaster nearby, I believe. I am sure there is WIFI available throughout the Algarve, but that doesn't help in the villa. |
Joseyrobin, hi:
Lobo is your man to answer the internet <i>?s</i> - he works in that field. But there will be I'm sure in the nearest town to you an internet cafe or suchlike if that helps. Matt |
ok about 10 hours and we will be on our way!
There is way too much talk of food poinsoning here lately. Guess I better pack some meds. Matt/Lobo/and all have a wonderful time tonight. We love Sangria BTW. I will call Matt and/or Lobo when we arrive in Lisbon next Thursday (or before) to finalize our meeting Friday night. Thanks to all and report will follow! Barb |
Barb, there is something else in addition to Friday night's concert I think you will like - every Thursday and Sunday throughout June there is going to be Fado on the tram - Trams 28 will be featuring Fado performances between 4 and 6 and 7 and 9 in the evening. 28 is the tram which goes from one end of Lisbon to the other and I think the best idea is to stay on as it rides around. We can speak more on Friday should you be interested - haven't had chance to find out all the details yet.

Joseyrobin, you need a portable PC with WLAN connectivity (Centrino processor or PCMCIA/USB card, wi-fi compatible).
The list of hotspots may be consulted here https://www.ptwifi.pt/localizacoes/default.aspx The cost is 5 euros/1 hour, 20 euros/1 day or 50 euros/1 week. My advice goes to purchasing 1 hour and if the service is satisfactory, then proceed to purchase 1 week. This way if the coverage is not so good, you don't loose a large amount of $$$$. The purchase is done in https://www.ptwifi.pt/ pressing the VISA card symbol. This summer I'm planning to offer a GSM/3G data card to my laptop with a lot of advantages including nation wide coverage, 1.8 Mbit/s connection, 6 Gbytes of traffic and a mensality of 39 euros. But assuming you come from US, it may be useless back home. |
Barb, I'm freightened too :-)
I'll start my diet tomorrow :-) I have other plans for today... |
That Fado on the tram sounds fun too. We will be there Thursday but not Sunday.
Question for my DH - will he need a jacket and tie for any of these events or dining in Lisbon or elsewhere? He prefers to not bother with bringing them if it can be avoided :) Thanks. |
Answer for DH: Anything above bath suits are suitable for anyplace, excluding may be very fancy restaurants where like Tavares where a jacket and a tie is advisable.
Using sommon sense, if you are guests in wedding or similar activities the answer is necessarily different. Bottom line: use whatever makes you confortable, as long as you (and DH)don't use socks and sandals at the same time |
Oh and I was planning to wear socks and sandals for tonight. Back to the wardrobe you go Matthew.
BTW what's <i>"sommon sense"</i> Have you been on the sangria already Lobo? ;-) |
Thanks Lobo. Got to go pack now and take out my socks and sandles.
|
Sorry Matt, I meant "Solomon sense" :-)
|
Barb65. Have a wonderful and safe trip.

27th May LDC was a huge success. Matt's report is in progress.

Yes a most excellent night Lobo: nice organisation on your part. So report to follow tomorrow - I have a headache (not drink related) and my eldest daughter is unwell so bear with me everyone. But...

Vitor hope you like the photos! Matt |
