I get this email from www.exploringireland.net on a regular basis.

This was sent within the last week.

Hopefully, this is somewhat helpful.

Walking around the town centre is fun, as is listening to traditional music in the pubs -- we enjoys the Quays (pronounced "keys") for trad music and one night, trad dancing.

Eyre Square, a block or two off the main town walking area, was where JFK gave a speech -- there's a monument, if memory serves.

Also enjoyed the Claddagh area and walking along Galway Bay.

The Great Southern (hotel) on Eyre Square, also adjacent to train/bus station, has good dining and a downstairs pub as well.

If you've had enough walking around, eating, shopping, etc. in Galway there's always a day trip to the Aran Islands.

Galway didn't really interest me, so we skipped it in favor of an overnight stay on Inishmore. We loved being there at night when the day-trippers were gone. (We ate in a pub with just some locals). We also loved being able to get a head-start on our bicycle touring before the day-trippers arrived the next day. By doing this, we managed to keep ahead of the tour groups and had places such as the Seven Churches all to ourselves.
