There must be more than 2 restaurants open in Rome on a Sunday??

Hi, the only 2 restaurants I have been able to find that are open on Sunday in Rome are Ditrambo and La Campana. Please, do you know of any others???

On a recent trip I had no problem finding restaurants open on Sunday, especially in the tourist areas.

Just stroll down the street and find one open. In fact, Sunday seemed to be one of the busiest nights out.

Monday is usually the day that most of the more popular restaurants are closed in Rome.

I also find Sunday night a good night to stroll Trastevere, where it seems all restaurants are open and it tends to be a little quieter than the rest of the weekend.

But I too have never found a problem finding good restaurants open on Sunday -- but then I have never booked any restaurant before going to Rome -- usually just book them the day of or the day before.

hi, loveroses,

in the area we stayed last easter, arriving on easter sunday!!! we found loads of restaurants open that night.

perhaps you need to think about the sort of restaurants that don't have web-sites?

regards, ann

Where are you staying?

I agree with others that mostly Sunday is not a problem--Monday is the more common closing day.

we ate at Hostaria Giggetto which is a popular restaurant in the ghetto area right next to the Portico d'Ottavia. this is an interesting neighborhood to explore if you haven't been there. I just checked the card I brought back and confirmed it is definitely open Sunday.

I've been to Rome several times and found that around 90% of Roman restaurants are opened on Sunday.

Hi J62, dutyfree, NeoPatrick, Ann, Vttraveler, and Barbmike,
Thanks for responding.....we just won't be concerned about it then--we'll just take J62's suggestion and stroll until we see something that looks inviting! :> thanks, neopatrick for the suggestion of Trastavere! Thanks again (don't know where I got the idea that it was hard to find a restaurant open on Sundays!! LOL

Going to Piperno for Sunday lunch has become somewhat of a tradition for me in Rome. If the weather is nice, try to sit outside in the tiny piazza.

Be sure to make a reservation! It is a popular spot for locals on Sunday.

Leaving for Rome again tomorrow and just wanted you to know that some of the best restaurants that I have eaten at in Rome were those that caught my eye while strolling...le dolce vita? Have fun!
