Another suggestion, train to Dijon, a charming small city, likely to be a good place to pick up a rental car and closer even to Paris than Lyon. (We did it backwards, dropped a rental car in Dijon, stayed two nights and a day and saw the city, with its markets, restaurants, and small museums and caught an early train to Paris the last day in time to catch our flight back to the U.S.) Whatever you choose, have a wonderful trip.
