I am trying to buy tickets to see The Loin King while in London. I have looked at several sites but these seem to be third party vendors. Does anyone know how I can buy them directly from the theatre.

www.thelionking.co.uk with the same £1.80 per ticket booking fee as by telephone. This connects to Ticketmaster. If you use this method, be aware that the computer offers tickets at random. If you are unhappy with its choice, keep re-selecting until you get tickets you consider worthwhile.

When the theatre does not have tickets available, it is worth trying the Theatremonkey Ticketshop agency, which offers seats with a £6 booking fee on £40 seats at Monday to Thursday and Sunday performances (£6.40 on £42.50 seats at Friday and Saturday shows) until 28th September 2003 - moderate by agency standards, high by box office ones, but worth trying as they often have good seats when others do not!

I recently purchased tickets to Lion King and had to buy them through Ticketmaster UK. I would call them up, as I got better tickets on the phone than I did by looking online at their Web site. I heard that rows A & B are too close. Good luck.

This is one show you do not want to sit too close to the stage for. We were in the front row and it was not good at all.

Tickets to Lion King are not so hard to get as they used to be. Two years ago we arrived in London and went to the theatre box office to see if we could get any return tickets for that week. They had some available for nearly every performance. We chose some that were in about the 12th row center and they were perfect! Unless you have one specific performance that you would have to see (meaning you're only available at that one time and day) I'd go to the box office and see what you can get.

Unless you have to go on a specific day you can wait until you are in London and queue for returns at the theatre.

I have seen the show twice - and both times got my tickets the day of performance right at the box office.

They sell returns each day three hours before curtain - And on Sunday they sell them at noon. You would need to be there about 30 minutes or so before that to be sure to get seats.

And most weeks you can get tickets w/o queueing for returns - most days are not entirely sold out. The advantage of returns is they are usually very good seats.
