Theatre, Fame & Destinationcoupons.com

We will be in London at the end of August. Would like to go with our family (ages 10-80) to see a musical. My kids have already seen Lion King and Mary Poppins. Is Fame appropriate for 10 year olds? We are quite careful about what we allow our kids to see and don't want to take them if there is swearing, sexual dialogue, etc. They do love singing and dancing and I thought this might be a good show. Also, I saw on Destinationcoupons.com a dinner and theater package for Fame that seemed reasonably priced. Has anyone used Destionationcoupons.com and are they legitimate? Thanks, CCMP

I don't know anything about the website you are asking about, but my 13yo daughter and I saw Wicked in London last weekend and it is terrific and I would have taken my 9 and 11 year olds if they had been with me. Our second choice was Sound of Music. That would certainly also be family friendly.

I haven't compared the two sites, but I've successfully used Lastminute.com for similar purchases in the past, so take a look there too.

just a few quick comments:

1) that is a very amatuerish looking website - and I don't see anything/offers that aren't available elsewhere

2) From your criteria - no, I don't think Fame would be appropriate for your family. "don't want to take them if there is swearing, sexual dialogue, etc." - apparently you didn't see the original movie or TV show. It is about teenagers w/ raging hormones, drug use, etc.

and 3) Even if you did want to see Fame - it is almost always available at TKTS at 1/2 price.

Stomp might be a good alternative. It's not a musical (no singing that I remember) but it's a great dance show - kids love it.

I have to second Kellye's suggestion of Wicked. It's just excellant and definitely family friendly.

Thanks to all those who replied. Okay, I guess Fame is out and we will look into Wicked, Stomp and Sound of Music. I will also check out the other website recommended. Thanks again. CCMP

for my 2 cents worth, if your kids haven't seen wicked, that's your answer--fantastic show for kids with good moral--just saw fame in london last week (and mary poppins) and was excellent but definitely some swearing, drug use reference etc
