Theater in London
I am still planning my trip, reading, researching, posting here. I was considering seeing a play while in London, and was wondering how one should dress. I was not planning on brinning a suit or anything and was wondering if their were any causual plays?
Thanks in advance for the feedback |
There is no need to dress up. Whatever your definition of "dressy casual" is, go with that.
Yes there are casual plays and you don't need to dress up. And we spell theater theatre.
we went to the theatre in London on our trip in 2004. I had always heard of the district..but when we got off the tube that evening...amazing! I loved it!
Thanks to everyone for the theatre information (sorry for spelling it wrong!)
Just relax and have a great time and never mind the spelling.

Hi Thanks do I need to get tickets way ahead of time?
I usually show up a coupla days ahead and see what's going. Other people book aeons ahead. You can often get cheap tickets at the South Bank Box Office the day before. Good stuff there too. Depends what you're after.

It really depends on what you want to see - newer, hotter shows, require more advance booking. For shows that have been playing for some time you can get seats cheaply the day of the performance. To help you out go to www.officiallondontheatre.com for a complete listing of shows. Within the site you can go to the TKTS link which will give you shows that have half price tickets available on the day of the show. TKTS is a ticket booth located in Leicester Square - go here on the morning that you want to see a show and they sell half price tickets for that evening or matinee performance - look carefully though before standing in line because one side of the booth sells tickets for evening performances and the other side is for matinee's.
Check lastminute.com theatre section. They often have great deals...up to 50% off in some case. Thats where I go for mine and it saves me going to the TKTS booth in person.

Thanks everyone for the information! There are so many plays, I may have to see 2 while I am there!
