The Uffizi: is there a student pass?
My (American) daughters will be in Florence for a week. I don't see anything in the museum websites about student rates. Is there a such thing as a short term pass for the school age art historian?

ISTC Student Cards from CIEE, the 'official student card' issued by participating major universities and to anyone who can prove they are a bonafide student often get reductions, sizeable IME, at Italian museums - not sure about Uffizi but very possible. Have her check her local university Travel Abroad office or any STA Travel Agency on or near many campuses.
In many countries like France and Holland just being under 26 is fine for youth/student discounts but in Italy it seems the ISTC card is the means of student discounts
Was this way a few years ago but i haven't kept up so don't know current status - but Let's Go Italy guidebook will tell you - check it out at any library or major bookstore

There is something called "Friends of the Uffizi", or at least that is how it is translated, which is like an art museum membership. I think it's good for more than the Uffizi. I know there was a relatively recent SlowTalk thread about it.

There is of course the Florence Pass which seemed a bargain when i was there recently though did not buy one - if you are going to the major museums and some churches
maybe it has a youth or student rate as well
alas though sometimes European museums senior and youth rates may be granted only to EU residents or countries that have signed reciprical agreements and the U.S. is never on the list it seems.

PalQ, such a reciprocal arrangement would be quite the deal for us, since we flock to their museums a lot more than vice versa.
kyboubon, Thank You! Even for a week of serious art history that would seem to be worthwhile.
