The Toren Hotel in Amsterdam, or other good hotel in quiet location
Any good or bad comments about the Toren Hotel, where I'm thinking of staying in mid-December for four nights--cost around $250 p/night, including taxes? It's located at Keizersgracht 164. What area is that considered in? I hope not too close to RLD or bars, which would be noisy at night. Would also appreciate any suggestions for other hotels in that price range in Old City, Western or Eastern Canal Rings or, my first choice as a location, the Jordann.

Happyfella,
We stayed at the Hotel Toren perhaps 5 yrs ago. Don't know exactly what area but it was fine, not by RLD. Right on a canal. Actually, as I recall, convenient to museums(although a walk), Anne Frank house. We stayed in their annex & didn't get their breakfast which seemed expensive at the time. There was a great breakfast/bakery down the street. |
Forgot to mention, we had 3 kids with so I would notice seedy environs.

I can't comment on the hotel itself, I never stay in Amsterdam and it would be out of my price range if I did. However the position is great, very close to the Anne Frankhuis and a short walk from the main centre. A long way from the RLD. Not actually in the Jordaan but pretty close to it.

Thanks much; it's helpful and reassuring.
