The Swiss cows are making their yearly move to the alps
The farmers are taking their cows into the alps... as they do every summer. How do I know? I can hear the cow bells from my window as the cows are being guided up into the alps.
Pure Swiss bliss.

Wow! That must be soo amazing.
But here is an odd question....since you hear the cows, and are seeing them more often than others, does that change your mind about eating meat?
I dooo soooo love beef, but I also don't know any cows personally, and haven't petted one or anything like that.
As for rabbits, I have petted them and know friends who have had them, and so I have no desire to ever eat rabbit, though I hear it tastes like chicken.
Does being closer to the animal change your views on eating it?
And before anyone gets upset, no, I am not a vegetarian. I am just asking a question.

No, not at all. In fact, I'd eat more beef if the price of beef wasn't so high.
By the way, I went for a bike ride tonight and had to drive around the cows. They still give me a bit of a fright because you can never be 100% sure if they'll charge or not. Been lucky so far.

The image of bicycling past some cows is sooo cute!
I wonder, though, if the cows know their plight...do they talk with other about when it is their turn?
I have never petted a cow, and never really been close to one.
Like you, I do enjoy a nice piece of carne asada with some good seasoning over a good salad. Yum!!

Found the cowbell sound!
Go to:
http://www.hoerspielbox.de/hsb-cgi/archiv.cgi?find=Tier
click "hören" found next to: >Kuhglocken bimmeln teilweise mit Muhen nahe am Mikro, Kühe im Tal, auf der Alm<
Perfect!
For the sound of the bus horn as it goes over the alps, go to:

select "Postauto" for the bus
select "Zug" for the train
select "Schiff" for the ferry
Press "anhören" for the sound

Cows need to graze in the summer and farmers don't have the land for that. They need the land to make hay. So they send the cows up into the alps. There are only a certain number of cows allocated to each alp. Depending on the alp, you'll find milking cows or steers. You won't find many bulls...too dangerous.

In 1980, I was able to see the smoke from St. Helens. That was a true experience.
Now I get to hear cow bells and sometimes even alphorns (when our local alphorn blowers are practicing.)
I've been blessed.
Glad you enjoyed the sounds.

Thanks, Schuler. I was picturing the cows I'd seen in town in the parades during the Fete des Vignerons with their flower wreaths and huge cow bells. I thought it was just for the ladies (cows that is).
