I don't think she found her place in the universe. The trip just gave her a chance to clear her head. Notice the Adriana dreams are becoming more insistent.
What was most interesting was Carmela's contemplation of the religious iconography. She seemed most taken with the representation of women and mothers. Which is so appropriate given that her active motherhood role is coming to end. What is Carmela supposed to do with herself when her life officially does not revolve around her children?
If she joins the convent, I will die laughing and set up a scholarship fund for the writers.
The funniest part was Carmela and Ro on the Pont Alexandre bridge shrieking about being miles from the Louvre when they were about a quarter mile away. Just turn your heads, ladies.

I will say that I loved the scenes showed in that episode! I soooo wish I had taken more good quality photos of Paris and that I had been able to capture the beauty that the directors and camera person did.

I, too, really enjoyed the Paris scenes. Seeing Carmela's joy with Paris made me quite anxious to go back soon. I was kinda hoping she would just stay there! Tony is getting so huge - I really think he needs to slow down on his food comsumption. And yep, poor Vito.

Maybe Carmela will go there to live when she either:
A.) Finds out about Adriana, or...
B.) Tony gets killed (DH and I think he has to die in the last season.)
Anyways, my mom and I just booked flights to Paris for next Feb., so I loved watching it! My DH told me that I better not bring that many coats
And...I don't think he'll be sending me with $15K in a LV wallet!

Carmela's duck was served with fennel (fenouil). Second reference to fennel in the same episode, with the slang Italian term "finocchio" used earlier to refer to Vito.
And she did have bajillions of coats.
You could see out the window of Le Grand Vefour into the garden of the Palais Royal, and her vision of Adrianna is definitely in the same garden.

I know I won't be going with $15K in a wallet either ........
This is so funny - I also commented to my husband about all the coats. I don't think I have that many to wear in Toronto, let alone to take on a trip. I guess she wasn't carrying her own bags though.

ok, what was the Kevin saga earlier in the season all about?
Interesting about the fennel, I know the slang term means gay.
What oh what are they trying to say? Tony reveals he is gay and then is killed and Carm goes off to Paris to grieve and start a new life?
Maybe Tony elopes with Fenn!

Is Kevin the moustachioed guy that Vito lived with in New England? If so, I am not sure why they devoted so much time to their relationship when Vito was a realtively minor character. Notice how he was waddling again after he came back home. Like a duck.

'Kevin Finnerty' was the name of the dream sequence character (salesperson who loses his wallet while traveling, etc.) that Tony played during the early-season episodes where he was in a coma. I think that it was a play on 'infinity'.

I am sooo happy that this show is going to be on for another season. Yay!
now will they benefit us in giving us views of perhaps different parts of Italy?
And I wonder how many on here would take the Sopranos tour that New Jersey offers?

Hysterical about the jacket/coat turn of this thread! I'd been avoiding it until we finally watched a borrowed tape last night and when it was over I said to my husband, "I think she had on at least six different coats!" (and they all were fabulous--my American taste; hmmm in retrospect, would the Parisian Fashion Police agree?)
My husband insisted that the cafe they ate in first was Cafe Leffe near Notre Dame but it blatantly was not (there was a busy street directly outside the window, Cafe Leffe is tucked back from the busy street). It really was fun to try to identify where they were and I agree with ilovetotravel29 about the photography.

Too funny about the coats! I was thinking how she must have had so many bags to bring all those coats along. I am so glad I will be in Paris in August and will not need a coat, as I would not have been nearly so stylish as to wear a different one every time I left my hotel.

Remember that scenes in a movie or TV show may be composites of location shots and studio shots, and may also involve modifications to shooting locations that make them look different from the way they look in real life.
It's all very amusing, in any case, given that real gangsters don't travel abroad on vacation.

I just moved back to the U.S. after living in Paris for 3yrs. People here have the id's correct.
The only one really missing was the cafe -- it was a cafe/bar called "Royal Pereire" on the Place du Marechal Juin (familiarly known as Place Pereire) in the 17th arrondissement (not far from Porte Maillot). Both the inside scenes and the view out the window were filmed there.
Also, I believe that those ruins they were looking at were those in the 5th arr. next to the Sorbonne and near the Pantheon.
Everything, by the way, that Carmela translated from French (either spoken or written) was 100% incorrect. I think that was part of the joke.
