Where to spend extra night - Santorini, Chios or Turkish Coast?

My husband and i are taking a 15 night trip to Greece/Turkey in late August/early September. We are 30 something, love to hike, experience new places and are generally not into cheesy tourist places.

We are spending 2 nights on Santorini (know it is touristy, but we are staying in Oia and want to see), and then 3 nights on Chios and 2 nights in a small Turkish hill village....we have an extra night before we have to fly to Cappadocia.

Where would you spend that extra night....add to Santorini visit, go to Samos for a night, try another island around Santorini, stay on Santorini and take a day trip?

We are looking for some advice.

Don't try to fit another island into your itinerary. Stay the extra night on Santorini or Chios. Otherwise you'll just be wasting too much time in transit. If you're itching to see another island look into the various daytrips available so you can return to your hotel at your leisure instead of packing, moving, unpacking, packing, moving, etc.

2 nights on Santorini is definitely not enough time to explore what the island has to offer. If it were me I'd spend the extra night there. Oia is amazing.

Oh no, not a THIRD!

I think it takes at least 4 days to get the minimum out of Santorini.

Make your way down below Oia to Amoudi Bay, have lunch at Katina's, and follow the seawall to the end and have a swim at the best swimming spot on the island. Hike up to Ancient Thera above Kamari Beach.

I would have added the day to Chios. We found four days on Santorini too long for us.

I found a place for some friends who were doing something similar to you ... and they LOVED! it.

Chios Town (the port) as u know is not a quaint place, and if u are going to see Chios, you'll want to rent a car (to drive to Mastic Villages, to the beaches south & west, and of course historic (and spooky) Nea Moni.

So get a car and go to Karfas beach a nice SANDY beach about 7-8 Km north of Chios town... to Sideratos Apts & Studios.
It doesn't have its own website; to see the place & get the contact info
you need to go on to this web page and Under the column Apts/Studios click on Sideratos.

They said the place is family-run was right on the beach (also with use of pool), with lovely views. Even tho it is Feb I would advise act soon because u want in High Season and they are very moderate price and have just 7 units. Good luck!
