"The most stupid Traveler Prize goes to ......

An Air Canada flight returned to Los Angeles escorted by fighter jets because a moron smoked on the plane. When caught he made loud Anti-American statements..turns out he was Iranian which could not have made matters any better for him....
I do feel so sorry for the other passengers whose nerves must have been a little stretched anyway-braving fears of flying and then something like this happening..maybe there will be moron-detectors at airports soon?

Hope he gets a lot of time to think about his stupidity while he is serving time.

Once they are caught and they will be caught, I would not want to be one of these clowns sentenced to prison in US.

General population, even though guilty of pretty bad stuff including rape and murder get really upset with child molesters, traitors and hopefully terrorists!

OF

There was a news brief earlier this week--I think it was on AP, but it might have been Reuters--about yet another moron. This one attempted to smuggle four boxcutters through airport security. After his arrest, he explained in what must have been an attempt at defense that he was trying to prove to his wife that air travel remains unsafe!

Reminds me of that story about the woman who told Calvin Coolidge her friend had bet that she couldn't get the taciturn President to say three words to her. His reply was, "You lose."

The more news I hear, the more I think Malthus deserves serious reconsideration.

Wasn't Malthus the guy who predicted that by now there would be about a zillion people on earth? Not clear (to me, anyway) what he has to do with this discussion.

And smokers wonder why a majority of the population is losing patience with them? The man knew his actions were against the law - goes to prove that smokers are self serving, self centered creeps.

I heard this story too and thought what an idiot. Another thing that happened yesterday, someone was trying to cross into the US throught the Peace Arch border which is the British Columbia/Washington State crossing. Guards smelt something odd and found a salad dressing like bottle with liquid in it. The guy says its homemade cologne, its off to Seattle for testing. He also had questionable id.

What are these people thinking?

Thought the same thing as you, Sebastian, when I saw the story this morning.

The passengers should've been allowed to pelt the moron with tiny packets of non-peanut salty snack mix.

Escritora, there's a whole thread about "the guy who snuck knives aboard the plane" on the US forum.

The guy wasn't stupid, moronic morelike. People like that should be castrated then buried alive, then we'll see how hard they are.

Old Fashioned -
Seems as if some people are unable or willing to learn new ways if protocol. It's all about keeping up with the times old fashion instead or living in the past - adapt or become extinct.

Hey, Tony. You are so right-on. Anything to prevent the marginally sentient types who live among us from breeding.

If he wanted to smoke so bad, maybe one of the flight attendants could've politely insisted that he smoke outside.
