We lived in Europe for nearly 4 years, and each Christmas went to a different destination. First Christmas was Scotland--we stayed in a small town named Beauly, north of Inverness. It was quiet and lovely, and we had a mild, but white, Christmas. Second year, we went to Florence Italy. It was superb. We visited Pisa, Lucca, Siena, and San Gimgiano while there. The third year, we went to Vienna, and it was wonderful as well. We enjoyed being in a special place for the holiday, being so far from home. There are often special packages for Christmas guests. We moved home before the fourth Christmas, but had planned to visit Prague. There are many beautiful places in Europe to spend Christmas. Hard to choose just one!!

We lived in Slovakia for a year and spent that Christmas in Salzburg, Austria. It was a white Christmas, which we had expected, but they said they didn't always have. I would have to say that there is no place like home for Christmas, but Salzburg was very nice.

We were in Garmisch from Dec. 26 to Jan 3 last year and it was perfect. Read my report called Winter Wonderland. This year we're going to Salzburg so I'm glad to see the post by Kristinelaine. Hope we get snow like we had in Garmisch.
