What are the lines like to get into the Louvre on a Saturday in Feb???

Purchase a museum pass and forget the lines.

I was there last Feb. and they were long. The line for the Musee d'Orsay was 3 blocks long. I agree - get a musee pass and walk right in. The last thing I want to do on my vacation is wait in line hours to see something.

I believe you can also buy a single visit ticket in advance, either at the Louvre or at any Paris Tourist Office location, accomplishing the same thing as the pass (in the event you didn't want a pass or to visit any other museums).

easily one hour, maybe even longer... in high season and a saturday that is.

Just returned from Paris and a museum pass is a must. The Parisians support there museums and the weekend lines are long.

There is a separate entrance for museum pass holders. I don't recall the name.

Went to Paris in February a couple of years ago and there was no problem at all.

The major line, by the pyramid, is to go through security. You can bypass that line by entering either from the metro stop, the red awning on rue de Rivoli, or the staircase next to the Arch du Triomphe du Carousel. Those all bring you to the underground shopping area by the inverted pyramid. There is a security line there that is always much shorter. Once you go through security (either one) you still have to buy a ticket (unless you have a pass) but there are quite a few ticket lines, and even some ticket machines, so those lines are much shorter. If you have a museum pass you go to the front of the security lines, and don't need to stop at all at the ticket booths. But if money is a concern and you don't want to buy a pass then using the underground entrance will usually save a lot of time.

Going early also helps a lot.

Don't get a pass. Commitments to see too much in a specified time are all wrong in Paris. Go 'round the side to Carousel entrance, and you'll come out by the inverted glass pyramid. In all the time I've netered there, including last spring, I didn't wait long at that entrance- 5-10 minutes.

Louvre: "when you get inside there is all of the stations selling tickets to get into the museam, look for the ATM-like machines on the kiosks. Use your visa/mastercard and buy the tickets right there, right away without waiting in line. I walked past about fifty people waiting in line by doing this! The machine lets you pick your language. You can grab a map from the information desk in the center and be on your way."
