My 15 y.o. son and I are hoping to accompany my husband on his trip to Paris next month. I had never heard of Paris Greeters Stroll. I was so intrigued by your description that I have requested a stroll with my son while my husband is working.

Another stop we missed last visit was Musee de la Armee. I am married to a former warrior (ooh rah) and the mother of another (ooh rah again). I know this would be something the boys would enjoy. Maybe I'll do as your wife and visit Hammam Pacha while they ogle and ooh over machinations of warfare.

Sounds like a plan, GAJay! Be sure they take enough time to see more than I did, and be sure to get the audio guide unless their French is better than mine. Many of the terms for ancient armaments are beyond the limits of any dictionary I would be able to carry around. Also, when they get to the parts about the World Wars, don't let it surprise them to find out the French won both of them (almost) without any help.

We were also planning to stay arounf Canal St. Martin but maybe will opt for the apt. you stayed in on Cite. (We were upstairs then.) Still hoping to get to Anacortes one of these days. Nukesafe--you mentioned advance preparation of a Google map with the location of to-check-out restaurants. I assume this was to enable your looking at it on your phone once you got to Paris.
How does one make such a map, and where do you save it for subsequent access?

Sorry, Tomboy, for not answering earlier, but I have been off Fodor's pretty much since we got back from Paris. My DW has snorkeling on her bucket list, so I have been haunting sites that can give me info on that. Since, sadly, Paris provides little of that activity -----.

I do not carry a smart phone, so I only know how to do the map thing on my iPad. I think they give pretty clear instructions on Google for doing the same thing on a phone, but if I were you I would start a new specific thread to ask the question of other more savvy Fodorites. I'm sure they will give you more than you wanted to know.

I'm so glad this was bumped up again as I missed the original thread (I'm off the boards for long periods of time)... nukesafe, I really hope to have your energy when I'm your age... to be in your 80s and still living it up in Paris, wow :) I'm traveling lots in my 40s thinking I might not make it to my 80s, but now I'm wondering if I shouldn't save a little extra for my retirement travel ;)
