I really enjoyed your trip report - it was a great read.

I also loved your report, Mel. We must have the same tastes in books and ice cream! I had posted a recommendation on Fodors for the book The Invisible Bridge. A great book.

And...one cannot have too much salted butter caramel ice cream. You may never forgive me, but, Trader Joe's sells a salted caramel sauce that is heavenly on ice cream. Much easier than making the ice cream from scratch. If you close your eyes real tight, you can almost believe you are back in France.

Oh, Kansas, did you have to tell me about the sauce? I lost 11 lbs on vacation and I've been sticking to healthy eating. Now I'm going to have to try to forget I know that.

Trader Joe's, huh?

No, no, no....

It's only about 15 miles away...

No. no, no...

MelJ great report. I'm sure your sense of humor is a real asset in travelling with your group. Very entertaining, thanks!

Mel - if you get weak and the car ends up pointed towards Trader Joe's, you can cut calories by skipping the ice cream and eating the Fleur de Sel Caramel Sauce straight out of the jar with a spoon.

Don't ask me how I know this.

MelJ, another SUITE FRANCAIS lover, wow.

I was so taken with her work (she died so young) that I read her other books, including her bio which came out a few years ago. Irene Nemirovsky tried in vain to acquire French citizenship and even made a “conversion” to Catholicism. None of these measures worked, including her connections to the publishing world in Paris. Her husband followed her to the death camps, but her young daughters survived.

Thank you for suggesting THE INVISIBLE BRIDGE. I checked on line at the local library. All copies were out which suggests to me that the novel must be a book club selection in the area. Will try later.

Merci…

I love that salted butter caramel ice cream at Berthillon! Can't decide if I am thrilled to know about the Trader Joe's sauce yet! Sounds like a fun trip....really missing Paris!

Another wonderful armchair adventure to enjoy. I too am off to Trader Joe's. I wonder if they'll notice the run on the salted carmel sauce?
