Hi Scarlett, I think you and Yankee were smart to try something different like the apartment and new cafes etc. We tend to get so locked into going to the same places every trip.

You sound like you all had a nice relaxing trip. Isn't is wonderful to be somewhere that you have visited so many times before so that you do not feel like you have to check off the list all the "sights" that one must do and instead just enjoy the city more as a resident would.

Have a fun week with your family!

Welcome back! I leave on Friday morning!
So, all black? I tend to wear a lot of black, accented by color. Am I going to stick out like a sore thumb in my spring-green, short trench coat?

Wonderful report, Scarlett, thanks.

So the French were wearing mostly just plain black? In Rome last year the big thing was pink accents (such as scarf or hat) with the black.

Welcome home, Scarlett. I'm so happy you enjoyed your trip, your visit with your son, and ALL Parisian pups! But please, don't make your Pup wear a scarf. I'm sure he has appearances to keep up in the neighborhood!

I am trying to plan a solo trip to Paris in August. I will continue to watch your post for suggestions and tips.

Scarlett, I love it! Leonard Cohen CDs while watching the Eiffel Tower blink. Must have been quite surreal. (DH used to say that all his songs were about dead babies, but my bro loves him)

Which ParisPerfect were you in? I’m planning a trip with son in spring and would definitely like the apt experience.

I'm enjoying reading about your séjour, Scarlett. Such fun to do travels with adult children, isn't it?

Welcome home, Scarlett!
How's Pup?
Glad you liked the neighborhood near the P'Perfect apt, but hoping the one I rent from them won't smell like cabbage--even if just in the hallway! Thanks for recs of nearby cafes/restaurants.
Kids today listen to Leonard Cohen????
Mon Dieu!

dear kopp!
No furry fish packs

Just these darling little kiddie backpacks ..shaped like a fish! I saw bears and bunny packs too but the fish ones really caught my interest!

Welcome back, Scarlett! Glad to have independent confirmation that Hotel Tiquetonne is a nice hotel from you son.

(I think that the Tiquetonne should give me a cut for the amount of publicity I'm giving them on Fodors. )

It sounds like you had a very nice time, especially having your son there. I also noticed the preponderance of black (tempered with gray). Does that prove that New York, whose denizens have been wearing all black for decades, is truly the fashion leader now?

Wonderful trip report, Scarlett. I can't resist a Paris trip report though I should be concentrating on Italy.
Your report just has me trying to figure out how to fit both into the schedule!

You always write so well! I like your "Travel style" and that you're willing to break from your usual and try something new! I wouldn't have guessed you were old enough to have a son who was old enough to be living in Japan!
Welcome home -
Now, where are you going to go next?

Woo Hoo! No question our Scarlett fit in over in Paris in her black clothes, and a rotisserie chicken in the chicken!

I am so happy you had a great trip, and I would have just stared at the Eiffel, too, if I'd had the apartment you rented! Glad you and your son and husband shared some wonderful meals and great times.

Scarves on little babies?! Heaven forfed! (I knew they did this with the pups, but the babies??)

Anyway, glad you're home and safe and you had a grand time in France!

Merci beaucoup for your lovely review,
BC

Scarlett,
Thanks so much for the great trip report! I love the area around Musée Marmottan too... nice just to sit on a bench in Jardin du Ranelagh and people watch. I think you had the better view in the apartment you chose, though How can you top a view of the Eiffel Tower?
