Where do I find the little Euro sign on my computer??? Thank you!

On your keyboard, make sure NumLock is turned on (there's usually a little light). Then hold down the Alt key and type 0128 on the numeric keypad on the right side of the keyboard.

If that doesn't work, copy and paste this one, and save it for later use.

Another way to get the euro sign is to type

& and the word euro and ;

after the number, leaving no spaces.

29 & euro ; without any spaces looks like this: 29€

Well, you can use Ctrl/Alt/5 and it may show up on your screen, but it may not render on every browser on every computer/OS.

HTML is a cross-platform standard. That's why I said it's the <u>best</u> way.

In Windows there's a little application called Character Map that lets you see and choose all kinds of special characters.

It's at Start &gt; All Programs &gt; Accessories &gt; System Tools &gt; Character Map.

Or use the Run... command and type charmap.exe (or just charmap).

<b>charmap</b> produces the Windows codes for special characters. They may or may not display correctly on non-Windows computers (or even on Windows computers, for that matter).

Use of charmap characters is not recommended.

Too funny, Kate! Or it might be a case of definitively stating that 'your' way is the best is what causes the furor. You'll notice that I posted the same thing as Robespierre did, <i>before he did</i> but I neglected to add any editorialization.

Maybe Robespierre is onto something here. I think I'm going to have to start adding in my opinions to facts and see what happens. :D

Fact: &amp;euro; always works.
Fact: Ctl/Alt/5 doesn't.
Fact: charmap doesn't.
Fact: Alt-0128 doesn't.

Opinion: the way that always works is the best way. As I said on 12/4/2004 on this thread:
