The Cotswolds
What is your favorite spot in the Cotswolds?
|
I hope some one shares ideas about B&B's. We are planning a summer 2003 trip. We will stay one week in London and one week some where around Banbury. I have been pouring over the B&B books. Does any have any suggestions?

If you've got wheels, my absolute recommendation for a b&b is Fern Cottage in Monkton Farleigh. That's a hamlet near Bradford on Avon, and its location is perfect for driving day-trips up into the Cotswolds, west to Exmoor, south as far as Lyme Regis, and everything in between (Salisbury, Wells, Glastonbury, Stone Henge, Avebury, Bath, and numerous villages and great houses and gardens). I take "spot" to mean site, not B&B. if so a few of my favs:

Minster Lovell Old Hall - a lovely ruined Medieval manor on the banks of the RiverWindrush.

Hailes Abbey

Hidecote Manor Garden

The churches in Burford and Fairford.

The view from the pub at the top of the hill in Stanton

Devils Chimney in Leckhampton

Bibury in the evening after the daytrippers have gone home

The view of Blenheim/lake/bridge as you walk in through the main gate from Woodstock - much better than driving in.
