how to spend a week in Cotswolds without a car?I am planning to travel by train from London .I'd like to visit Bibury, bourton on the water.,Moreton in marsh..and stay in B and B or in a farm ..thank you

There are loads of pretty places in the Cotswolds that aren't necessarily on the tourist trail. Rather than choose places from the guidebooks, then figure out how to get to them, I suggest you choose a place to stay where there are footpaths to walk (everywhere) and are on local bus routes.

well -- w/o a car I would not stay on a farm. You'd want to be in a fairly decent sized village or small town if you want to rely on buses.

And some of the 'Chocolate Box' towns/villages do have better bus connections than more off the beaten path places.

Moreton-in-Marsh isn't so much a place to 'see' but would make a decent base because it does have trains and several bus routes connecting it w/ other places.

Cirencester may be larger than you want (about 20,000 population) but it would make a good base w/ lots of connections.

i second Cirencester.

My other favourite little town [smaller than Cirencester] is Tetbury, but i suspect that its buses are not as good.

worth a look though.

Having stayed in both towns mentioned, you might also put Winchcombe on the list of towns with bus service. And some nice places to visit within walking distance.

There is bus service in Chipping Campden, which was a really nice town. We stayed at the Badgers Hall B&B. You can check bus service with www.travelinemidlands.co.uk
