The British Show: Showcasing the Best of U.K. Culture!
During the running of Coronation Street on CBC (Canada) TV they've been running promos for
"The British Show: Showcasing the Best of U.K. Culture highlighting Coronation Streets' xxxxx xxxxxx (forgot her real name) Cilla Battersby-Brown Well if Cilla B-B represents the best of U.K. culture i'd be shocked, unless she is also off Corrie some kind of opera diva, etc. (Last year's British Show, staged annually in Hamilton, Ontario featured Johnny Biggs, 'Mike Baldwin' of Coronation Street and i know that he as a young teen actually trained in a very prestigiou opera academy in Italy) So does Cilla does represent the best of U.K. culture or is the Canadian show a farce? I guess it would be virtually impossible to put on one stage the best of U.K. culture, which could include bass and drum music to opera! |
I know nothing about the actress outside the Cilla character: brilliant drag act though it is, she's no Alistair Cooke, is she?
But perhaps this is the famed Canadian sense of humour at work: we don't mind being sent up by our cousins. |
Think you know Cilla Battersby-Brown?
Think again; http://www.gm.tv/index.cfm?articleid...V%20Highlights Click on the Operation Smile link. Jim |
Jim - thanks for link but my antique computer won't open it - have to go to library and open it as am very curious
thanks |
I am impressed...in Canada, we are a few months behind in C Street episodes, so I didn't know she had gone. I think I will make the effort to see Wendi Peters now that I know about her change of lifestyle.

LJ - give me a clue about change of lifestyle - you mean like Hayley on Corrie? Or Todd?
as i said i can't get the link to open. thanks |
