The best time to see tulips in Netherlands

We will be traveling to Greece next April via Amsterdam and would like to stop there for two-three days to visit places with great displays of tulips. In your opinion when would be better time mid-April or the begining of May?

Mid april, but the beginning of May will be ok, too. Different bulbs bloom at different times. As I recall, they plant them in 3 layers, and as one layer finishes blooming, they pull those bulbs, for the next layer, which blooms a little later. Kukenhauf gardens are lovely.

Mid April is better. It is Keukenhof gardens. www.keukenhof.nl

I was there on April 13, 2001 and it was too early. There were flowers at Keukenhof, but mostly hyacniths and very few tulips had bloomed, so I guess it depends a lot on the year.

It depends on the year indeed. April 13th was perfect this year because of the very mild winter. We have been there May 1st in 2001 which was perfect as well.
