In Venice, I love getting up early, leave the hotel at 6.00 am, take the first vaporetto to somewhere far off in town and to walk back through the small streets and alleys, huming the early morning smells of the city, watching the town wake up, have a small coffee and be back at the hotel at 8.00 am for breakfast. The town is entirely yours at this moment of the day.

baldrick, I love that idea! I am a very early riser and do just that in most cities I visit but never have in Venice in quite the same way. I like the concept of hopping on a vaparetto and then winding my way back to the hotel. Thanks!
